Bloody Minded

Director: Joe Loh

Tagline: Behind the dings and dongs

In this documentary we meet the bell ringers of St Paul’s Cathedral and find out how they became interested in this particular pursuit.

I have seen a short piece on the same topic before and this film covered the same ground. They film maker did try to make it more than just talking heads, but I think it would have been better if they just followed the one person around or examined the conflict in the bell tower more closely.

There are only so many shots of ringing bells and glum looking beared men in black and white photos you can take. Almost as pointless were the shots on inner city Melbourne. Isn’t the Lon Chaney Snr Quasimodo film public domain now? if not they could use a similar movie for fill in shots.
